Interactive Chart:
WalletHub
Green - "Makers" - These states are least dependent on the Federal government.
Red - "Takers" - These states are most dependent on the Federal government.
Summary: A very interesting analysis from WalletHub.com which charts each state's dependence on the Federal government using 3 criteria:
1. Return on Taxes Paid to the Federal Government.
2. Federal Funding as a Percentage of State Revenue.
3. Number of Federal Employees Per Capita.

4PT.com recently did an analysis of 2013 Federal SNAP (food stamp) usage per state per capita. The WalletHub.com analysis of a larger number of Federal input variables yields a similar result to the simple analysis of only food stamp usage per capita.
